In food supplements, three forms of vitamin K may be found: MK-4 (prepared by organic synthesis and almost exclusively used in Japan), K1 (also synthetic and the predominant form used in the rest of the world), and MK-7 (a natural form prepared by extraction of natto food).

KINON™ provides natural menaquinone-7 (MK-7), a highly valuable member of vitamin K family and has a significant effect on preventing osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases beside its positive effects on blood coagulation.

The traditional Japanese dish Natto, a breakfast food made of fermented soybeans, is rich in natural menaquinone-7 (MK-7). Natto-derived KINON™ (MK-7) is produced by Bacillus subtilis natto, consists of all-trans MK-7, and is the most bioavailable and bioactive form of supplemental vitamin K2.

Numerous studies have found that natto consumption in Japan has been linked to significant improvement in K vitamin status and bone health.
